10 Tips for SNG Grinders to Increase Hourly Rakeback

These tips will increase your MGR and rakeback earned per hour ($RB/hr). In some situations they will also increase your hourly profit ($/hr). In other situations it will have no impact, or could actually lower your $/hr. Earning as much $RB/hr is very important but not as important as your $/hr. The only way to find out the impact these tips have on you personally, is to track your stats.

1. The most important step is to choose a Poker Room that includes Tourney Fees in MGR.

2. Most SNG professionals have to play multiple tables at the same time in order to attain a high enough $/hr, to make a living. The more tables you can play, without having a significant negative impact on your ROI, the more money you will make. Not only will your $/hr increase in most situations, but your MGR and $RB/hr will increase in all situations. This is an important situation where you will need to experiment with different amounts of tables to discover which gives you the best $/hr.

3. In terms of earning the most rakeback possible play continuous instead of sets. Playing continuous allows you to play more tables, which increases your MGR and $RB/hr. It may also increase your $/hr depending on how much it negatively affects your ROI. There is also the option of using a combination of the two methods to maximize your $/hr. This is another situation that will always increase your MGR and $RB/hr, however, it is more important to find out what impact playing continuous will have on your ROI and $/hr. The only way to find out is try both ways and track it.

4. It doesn’t matter for SNG Players whether the poker room uses the Dealt or Contributed method. Tourney Fees are added to MGR the same way for both methods. Choose Dealt if you play a little bit of ring games on the side.

5. Choose a poker room with a competitive sign-up bonus and great promotions. Once you have earned the bonus or taken advantage of the current promotion, move on to the next poker room.

6. Choose a poker room with a competitive rakeback percentage. The standard in the industry is 30%. That means for every $1 you pay in tourney fees, you will get $0.30 back in the form of rakeback.

7. Playing Turbo SNGs, will always increase your MGR and $RB/hr. However, Turbo SNGs usually have a slightly lower ROI than Non-Turbo SNGs. The $/hr is often better, simply because the games are much shorter and you can fit more into a day. Once again, this is something you will need to track to determine if you have a better $/hr playing turbos or non-turbos.

8. Choose rooms with the most traffic. The longer it takes you to get your optimal number of tables started, the lower your MGR, $RB/hr, and $/hr will be. This is especially important if you play sets. The more tables you can handle, the more important this is.

9. Play during peak times, usually 6pm-11pm EST at most poker rooms. The tables fill up faster, and have way more fish. This will increase your MGR, $RB/hr, and $/hr.

10. Put in the necessary time! The more you play; the more money you make (to a point). Set specific goals and accomplish them. Most importantly track everything, including how much time you put in each day/week/month. It is also important to set a goal for the number of SNGs you are going to play daily/weekly/monthly.

To figure out exactly how each method affects you, you will need to experiment and track and your results. Always remember that it is important to maximize your $RB/hr, but even more important to maximize your $/hr.
