Grinding A Poker Bankroll With Rakeback

When first starting out playing online poker seriously it is important to build a bankroll at stakes you where feel you can play at least break even poker over a large sample of hands. Most poker players understand the concept of "grinding" to build a poker bankroll, that is, putting in a lot of volume at low stakes tables by multi-tabling and building off of their "win-rate". However, most poker players and especially low and middle stakes players forget to factor in the huge impact playing with rakeback can have while grinding a bankroll.

It can be frustrating to play hour after hour of low limit - middle limit poker. Sometimes you will run well, and your bankroll will grow quickly. Other times, variance and poorly played sessions will result in you "running bad" or taking a downswing to your bankroll. Playing without rakeback at low stakes poker and higher is like choking your bankroll, you need to have rakeback to survive and grow your bankroll!

As a quick example of how big of an impact playing with rakeback can have on your bankroll can be, let's explore the life of a player who plays 50NL:

Conventional wisdom says you need a bankroll of 20-30 buy-ins to play this level properly, so let's use 25 as our example. A proper bankroll using this formula would give you $1,250 to start off with. However, if you want to move up to the next level, that is 100NL, you will need to double that bankroll to $2,500! A good player can do this fairly fast by playing solid TAG poker (tight-aggresive poker). By playing TAG with rakeback a solid player will increase his earnings significantly.

Considering that most players will play around break even poker, a NL50 player can easily earn $300 or more a month in rakeback, allowing the jump up to higherstakes much quicker than if playing without rakeback.

The best rakeback rooms to grind a bankroll on use the dealt rakeback method, where players earn rakeback just by being dealt cards, even if folding without "completing" or posting a blind.
