Testimonials
"Thanks for helping me get rakeback at Full Tilt, I went from a break even player to growing my bankroll while I improved my skills. Thanks to rakeback, I'm now beating 200nl. Adam was very helpful in answering all of my questions about the rakeback program."
Stephen Reinhardt

"Thank you for teaching me about rakeback. I was depositing and busting my bankroll every month last year, but now with my weekly rakeback I haven't deposited in 6 months. Thanks again."

10 Tips for SNG Grinders to Maximize Rakeback Earnings

SmartRakeback.com

These tips will increase your MGR and rakeback earned per hour ($RB/hr). In some situations they will also increase your hourly profit ($/hr). In other situations it will have no impact, or could actually lower your $/hr. Earning as much $RB/hr is very important but not as important as your $/hr. The only way to find out the impact these tips have on you personally, is to track your stats. If you are new to benefiting from rakeback deals please visit our home page and create a new account to get signed up.

Full Tilt Poker Rakeback is our favorite deal for sng players.

1. Choose a poker site that pays rakeback on all Tournament entry fees.

The most important step is to choose a Poker Room that includes Tourney Fees in MGR. Here is a list of our favorite poker sites with sng and tournament fees included in rakeback payments, all allow US players.
  • Full Tilt Poker - 27% refund on all Sng and Tournament entry fees.
  • Cake Poker - 33% rake refund on all entry fees, $500 signup bonus.
  • Aced Poker - 30% sng rakeback paid daily, $1,000 signup bonus.
  • Absolute Poker - 30% returned on all tournament fees, $500 signup bonus.
2. Learn to multi-table poker sng's and tournaments for higher volume.

Most SNG professionals have to play multiple tables at the same time in order to attain a high enough $/hr, to make a living. The more tables you can play, without having a significant negative impact on your ROI, the more money you will make. Not only will your $/hr increase in most situations, but your MGR and $RB/hr will increase in all situations. This is an important situation where you will need to experiment with different amounts of tables to discover which gives you the best $/hr.

3. Play continues sit and go's rather than a fixed amount or "sets".

In terms of earning the most rakeback possible play continuous instead of sets. Playing continuous allows you to play more tables, which increases your MGR and $RB/hr. It may also increase your $/hr depending on how much it negatively affects your ROI. There is also the option of using a combination of the two methods to maximize your $/hr. This is another situation that will always increase your MGR and $RB/hr, however, it is more important to find out what impact playing continuous will have on your ROI and $/hr. The only way to find out is try both ways and track it.

4. The method of calculating rakeback doesn't matter.

It doesn’t matter for SNG grinders whether the poker room uses the Dealt or Contributed method. Tournament fees are added to MGR the same way for both methods. This only matters if you play ring games on the side.

5. Consider the impact of signup bonus and reload bonuses offered.

Choose a poker room with a competitive sign-up bonus and great promotions like frequent reloads. Once you have earned the bonus or taken advantage of the current promotion, move on to the next poker room to build your bankroll. Try to deposit the maximum amount and don't expect bonuses to clear very fast by just playing sng tournaments - but the added effect of rakeback earned on top of bonus cleared will leave your bankroll growing fast.

Aced Poker offers a $500 first deposit bonus - with 30% rakeback paid daily (35% starting April 15th 2010) into your poker account.

Additionally, Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet (both on the same network) offer great game selection, huge first signup bonuses, and monthly reload bonuses.

6. Rakeback Percentage Does Matter

Choose a poker room with a competitive rakeback percentage. The standard in the industry is 25-30%. That means for every $1 you pay in tourney fees, you will get $0.30 back in the form of rakeback.

Cake Poker offers 33% rakeback on all games, including sng fees.

7. Play turbo SNG tournaments for more value.

Playing Turbo SNGs, will always increase your MGR and $RB/hr. However, Turbo SNGs usually have a slightly lower ROI than Non-Turbo SNGs. The $/hr is often better, simply because the games are much shorter and you can fit more into a day. Once again, this is something you will need to track to determine if you have a better $/hr playing turbos or non-turbos.
  • Full Tilt Poker - offering the best game selection and software for volume sng players.
  • Absolute Poker - with 30% rakeback and monthly reloads, turbo sng's run around the clock.
  • Ultimate Bet - sharing a network with Absolute we reccomend opening accounts at both sites to take maximum advantage of all bonuses offered.

8. Plat at the biggest poker sites with the most sng traffic.

Choose rooms with the most traffic. The longer it takes you to get your optimal number of tables started, the lower your MGR, $RB/hr, and $/hr will be. This is especially important if you play sets. The more tables you can handle, the more important this is.

9. Play When The Fish Play - Game Selection Matters.

Play during peak times, usually 6pm-11pm EST at most poker rooms. The tables fill up faster, and have way more fish. This will increase your MGR, $RB/hr, and $/hr.

10. Invest in learning to win more, analyzing your stats is important.

Put in the necessary time! The more you play; the more money you make (to a point). Set specific goals and accomplish them. Most importantly track everything, including how much time you put in each day/week/month. It is also important to set a goal for the number of SNGs you are going to play daily/weekly/monthly.

At SmartRakeback, we'll give you free poker training and software to track all your stats.

To figure out exactly how each suggestion affects your ROI, you will need to experiment and track and your results. Always remember that it is important to maximize your $RB/hr, but even more important to maximize your $/hr.
